The Facets are the 'joints' of the spine.  Perhaps best described as the parts of the vertebrae that overlap each other to keep the spine in line.  When the facets are not moving smoothly, or are 'locked' inflammation begins, and a cycle of pain starts.  this cycle of pain can intermittent or constant.  Facet syndrome is not easily diagnosed by X-Ray or MRI, rather is best diagnosed by a skilled Doctor.

Frequently Facet Pain is confused with pain caused by discs, or other spinal issues.

We have extensive experience treating Facet Pain without the need for drugs or injections.

Facet Blocks

I had trouble standing, sitting and walking. I had tried facet blocks which only helped for a month or so, then the pain was back.

I saw an ad in the Valley Press magazine section and then on TV. I made an appointment and the Pain is History.

I can actually function with out pain. This is a biggie for me.

Severe Back Pain Lancaster

Barbara Colony

I started having severe back pain June of 2006. My doctor prescribed Vicodin after my left hip to my toes developed numbness and tingling. I could not walk. I was admitted to AV Hospital, received CAT Scans, EKG’s and a Facet Block. I was not satisfied with the results and did not want surgery. The pain was so bad and it was constant.  I could not find a comfortable position that eased the pain.  I had difficulty walking and I had to use a walker.
The doctors said I had degenerative discs and pinched nerves at L4, L5.  All sorts of tests were done and I was given choices of facet blocks or surgery.  Facet blocks gave temporary relief and I did not want surgery.
I have had chiropractic care in the past and had good results.  I made an appointment with Dr. Frye.  I had met some of the staff in 2004 when my husband came to see Dr. Thornton.
The pain was almost gone after the very first adjustment and each adjustment then brought more  flexibility.  I can walk and even ran the other day!  The PT and Dr. Mesler also helped with this progress.  I am grateful for the excellent care I received at AVSC.  The entire staff is friendly and caring.  I did not need to take Vicodin after starting chiropractic treatments.
